Carlyn Kappy is the Research Quality Manager for Research & Innovation at Shepherd Center, where she ensures excellence in research processes and compliance. She collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to improve protocols, streamline workflows, and coordinate clinical studies — helping transform innovative ideas into impactful outcomes for patients.
Since joining Shepherd in 2001, Carlyn has combined her clinical expertise as a registered dietitian with her passion for research, advancing projects that improve rehabilitation strategies and quality of life.

Why her work matters
Carlyn’s work ensures that every study meets the highest standards, supporting discoveries that improve independence and quality of life for individuals with complex neurological conditions.
She began her career at Shepherd as an inpatient dietitian, working with patients with multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, and brain injuries. Witnessing their determination inspired her transition into research.
