How to apply for the Shepherd Center Nurse Scholars Program

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must be enrolled as full-time or part-time students in an accredited nursing program in Georgia, pursuing either an Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Candidates must have received official acceptance into the nursing program and maintain good academic standing throughout the semester for which scholarship funds are requested.

  • Scholarship funds are awarded at the end of the semester and can be used for tuition fees and educational expenses.
  • To remain eligible for the Nurse Scholars Program and to ensure timely processing of scholarship funds, recipients must submit their official final transcript to shepherd_nurse_scholar_selection_committee@shepherd.org at the end of each semester. Failure to provide the transcript may result in delays or loss of scholarship support.
  • If a recipient fails to enroll in classes, withdraws from college, or does not maintain the program’s eligibility requirements, they will no longer receive support from the Nurse Scholars Program. In such cases, scholarship funds will be revoked.
  • Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Application submission instructions

Use the online application on this page to apply. You will be asked to complete the following steps in the application process:

  1. Write a short answer response not to exceed 500 words responding to the below items:
    1. Reasons for choosing a career in nursing
    2. Commitment to the nursing profession
    3. Interest in catastrophic care
    4. Career goals after graduation
  2. Applicants must provide two letters of recommendation from current nursing faculty at their college or university.   3. Request a copy of your university transcript to be sent directly from your university to the Shepherd Nurse Scholar Selection Committee by email (electronic copy): shepherd_nurse_scholar_selection_committee@shepherd.org

A selection committee of nursing professionals will review applications and select recipients based on merit, need, and potential for impact in the nursing field. Applications cannot be processed until all required documentation is submitted. Scholarships are awarded each semester.
